Ashdod Port Expansion - South Port
Client of Project: Israel Ports Company
Planning and execution period: 2012 - under construction
Description of the project
A Project of expansion of the existing port and development of the new container terminal of the authority, through constructing new quays, breakwaters and the conquest of large areas of the sea.
The project is planned in very complex stages, with unique solutions to engineering problems during implementation, alongside structural stability solutions of the system.
The large volumes of fill required planning of additional stages for the course of execution.
One structure of the quays is particularly exposed to the sea forces, and demanded a unique solution of another supporting structure to increase its stability.
This platform is designed as a structure above the sea of precasts concrete and casting at the site over piles drilled and sheet piles in the sea and lines of various types.
The standards and codes required special attention to planning and implementation issues.
Main project data:
- Length of new quays: 1,550 m
- Breakwater: 2,400 m
- Container area: 780,000 sq. m.
- Continuous restoration and upgrading existing quay: 570 m.
- Development of roads and bridges:
- Structures
- The cost of the project: NIS 3 billion
